Ultimate Orange Almond Cake


Almond Cake

4 Eggs – Separated

1/2 Cup sugar

1 Cup of Ground Almonds

1 Teaspoon orange liqueur (optional)

Candied Oranges Slices

1 Cup of water

1/2 Cup of orange juice (no pulp)

1/2 Cup of sugar

1 Cinnamon stick

1 Orange ( I like to use blood orange) sliced 0.25inch thick




Beat the egg yolks, sugar until fluffy. Add orange liqueur then slowly add the ground almonds.

In a separate blow beat egg white until stiff. (You know it is down if the mixture doesn’t slide around).

Fold the egg whites into the egg yolks.

Grease and flour a 8 inch cake pan and bake it in the oven for 350F for 45 min.

Sauce and orange slices

In a pan add in water, orange juice and sugar and bring it to a boil.  Then add in orange slices and cook them over medium heat.  Turn them occasionally and the orange cook till the liquid is turned in to a thin syrup. Turn the heat down to low heat and cook it till no the cake is ready or no longer then around 25-30 min.

Place the oranges on top of the cake and pour the sauce on top.
