I was playing with my blog I changed the wordpress address (URL) settings under general settings.  This cause some problems obviously it pretty much broke my wordpress and most of my functions didn’t work. So after taking sometime trying to figure out how to revert my settings I finally figured it out!

First you have to go in to the SQL database (I use phpMyAdmin so I use that to explain how I fixed it from there). In phpMyAdmin go in to your database and got the “wp_options” section.

There you should see “siteurl” under the “option_name” column and right next to it is the “option_value” there you will see your newly entered url.

To change it just click on the edit button and change that current url to what it was originally hit save and everything so be just fine!
Well at least it worked for me ;D

This worked for me. So I just had to say Thank you very, very much.

I built my 1st wordpress blog on my mac using MAMP and tried to follow the instructions a wordpress.com to move it to its new url on the server where it would be “live” now that it is complete.

Yeah, it didn’t work. And I mean nothing worked. Not the site at the new location. Not the old one on my home computer. phpmyadmin wasn’t even working.

So I decided I would just try and get everything back the way it was. I found a tip to get phpmyadmin up and running again at another site by changing the httpd.conf in the MAMP app folder. But i still couldn’t get the original blog at localhost:8888 to work.

I noticed when I tried to access it, my browser was redirecting to the new url I entered in my setting when trying to move it. The post above’s tip got me to the right spot in phpmyadmin.

It didn’t work at 1st because I had to make the change to both the spots I changed in wp-admin (id 2 & id 39) and enter the “correct” old url “exactly”: http://localhost:8888. But then, bang, it was right back the way it was.

Its 2 am and thank you so much! Now I can go to sleep, knowing everything’s back the way it was.
